An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan on Monday ordered the remand of 28-year-old scavenger, Hassan Usman, at Abolongo Correctional facility for allegedly stealing bread baking pans worth N690,360.
The defendant, whose house address was not provided, is being tried for stealing, for which he pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Emmanuel Idowu, ordered the remand of the defendant at Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo town and adjourned the matter until April 8, to enable the prosecution present facts of the case.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt . Iyabo Oladoyin told the court that the defendant on March 28, at about 10p.m. at Royal Spices, Oluyole Estate area, Ibadan, allegedly stole 174 pieces of bread baking pan, valued at N475,000.
Oladoyin alleged that the defendant stole another set of 36 pieces of small baking pan valued at N23, 760 and half bag of salt valued at N22,100.
Other items stolen by the defendant were 23 pieces of tray valued at N126,500 and 20 pieces of 25-litre empty kegs valued at N4,000.
The prosecutor told the court that the total value of stolen items was N690, 360 property of Royal Spices Academy, Ibadan.
Oladoyin said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
