Police shoot Journalist, student during protest in Osun
Mr Toba Adedeji, a correspondent attached to The Nation Newspaper has been reportedly shot by operatives of the Osun State Police Command on Tuesday.
Premium Politics gathered that another person suspected to be a student was also shot at the Orita Olaiya area of the state as the police attempted to disperse protesters.
The PUNCH reported that some youths had assembled under the Olaiya bridge in Osogbo to protest the alleged extrajudicial killing of a colleague, identified as Mr Abiola Afolabi.
According to reports, Afolabi who was said to have been killed by the police on April 4, 2022, was buried on Tuesday and his friends held a rally to mourn him.
After the burial, the protesters were said to have blocked the road and prevented vehicular movement.
About 30 minutes after the protest, some police operatives stormed the scene and shot into the motley crowd and journalists covering the protest.
The journalist, who was shot in the thigh, was rushed to Osun State University, Osogbo for treatment.
