Police foil bandits’ attack, release 20 abducted victims in Niger

The Police have foiled a bandits' attack on Nasko in the Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.

DAILY POST reports that, the state spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, on Sunday said that scores of bandits were neutralised, a large herd of cattle recovered and 20 abducted victims set free.

He stated that the bandits and terrorists raided some villages around Nasko in Magama on Saturday and rustled large numbers of cattle.

He added that the police sought for the reinforcement and help of military operatives and vigilantes to comb the area.

He explained that there was a two-hour fierce gun battle that took place on the Ibeto cattle route while the hoodlums tried to escape with the cattle.

Items recovered at the scene included one AK-47 magazine with 30 rounds of live ammunition, seven handsets and one Honda motorcycle.

The spokesman sought the cooperation of residents in ridding the state of banditry and other crimes.
