Police have confirmed that a middle-aged woman was found dead in her apartment located in the Abusoro area of Akure, the Ondo State capital on Tuesday.

The woman, Yemi Ajayi, was found dead in the pool of her own blood.

There are indications that the woman must have been murdered, according to an eyewitness. He said there were five marks of knife-stab in the stomach of the deceased.

The eyewitnesses added that it was the child of the deceased that first saw her in the room in a pool of her own blood and then raised the alarm that attracted the attention of neighbours.

The source said, “ The young girl narrated to people that when she woke up, she was looking for her mother so that they can pray together, unfortunately she didn’t see her

“She went on searching not until she found her mother lying lifeless, as the assailants packed some cloths in the wardrobe and used it to cover her body”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident when contacted.

She said investigations had commenced into the matter.

Odunlami said, "We have commeced investigation into the matter."
