One killed as gunmen attack Anambra flyover
An unidentified young man has been killed on Wednesday afternoon after some unidentified gunmen attacked the flyover bridge at Aroma Junction, Awka, Anambra State.
The PUNCH reported that the gunmen, numbering about five intercepted the young man, pursued him and shot him severally on the head.
An eyewitness revealed that the victim had sat under the flyover bridge for a few minutes before the attackers located him.
After shooting the young man, the witness said that the assailants waited to ensure that their target was dead before leaving the scene.
Another eyewitness, identified as Mrs Ngozi Nwora, said that many people sustained injuries while scampering to safety because of the gunshots.
"This is unbelievable, it is inexplicable how life has become so cheap in this country. People killing fellow human being like chicken while others watch helplessly. With what I saw today, there is no value for life in our system again. The attackers did not mask up and they did not come with vehicles, they just walked leisurely," she added.
Confirming the incident, the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that a preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was a cult-related war.
Ikenga further revealed that they have taken charge of the area.
