One killed as driver rams car into trailer parked beside Rivers Catholic church
A man driving a Toyota saloon car was killed on Tuesday after he allegedly rammed his vehicle into a faulty truck conveying metal scraps at 2nd Artillery axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
An eyewitness, who sought anonymity, said the driver was descending a flyover bridge around 8pm when he rammed into the trailer, which was parked near a Catholic church.
He said; “The man was driving down from the flyover. Maybe he didn’t see the trailer was parked there. The parked trailer carried scraps. The man just rammed into it.”
The Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corps, Rivers State Command, Chukwuma Mbaegbu, confirmed the incident.
He said; “Yes, the crash happened in the night, but we got the information this morning (Wednesday) and our men were sent there. They confirmed that somebody died and they took him to a mortuary,” Mbaegbu stated.
