Neighbour breaks into 60-year-old woman’s apartment, rapes her in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 40-year-old man, Adeshina Adebowale, who broke into his 60-year-old neighbour's apartment and reportedly raped her.

The State Police Public Relations, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed this on Monday in a statement.

He said the incident happened in Idanyin, Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Idanyin divisional headquarters by the son of the victim.

He said the suspect broke into the victim's apartment about 4 pm on Sunday and had carnal knowledge of her .

The PPRO said the son narrated that while his 60 years old mother was in her apartment, the suspect broke into the apartment, and raped her.

Kuye said, "Upon the report, the DPO, Idanyin division, CSP Olayinka Kuye, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect.

"He was subsequently traced and apprehended, while the victim was quickly taken to hospital for medical treatment.

"The suspect has made a confessional statement that he actually committed the crime."

Oyeyemi, however, said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
