The National Law Drug Enforcement Agency on Friday decorated the Lagos Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya aka Mc Oluomo, as its poster boy in the war against drug abuse.

Oluomo’s primary duty is to sensitise people, especially drivers and road users under his wing, on the need to desist from drugs and other harmful substance.

Led by its State Commander, Calys Alumona, the NDLEA urged the NURTW chairman to use his office to enlighten the union members on the negative effects of hard drugs and how harmful it can be to their brains.

Alumona confirmed that they were also there to appoint the Lagos State chairman of the union as WADA Ambassador.

He further stated that they have carefully monitored the lifestyle of the Union chairman and were surprised to discover that he is a man that doesn’t smoke, indulge in substance abuse or drink alcohol.

Responding to the accolades, Mc-Oluomo appreciated the team and the NDLEA leadership for their sustained fight against use of harmful substance in the society.

He disclosed that since inception as the Lagos State chairman of NURTW, he had conducted several seminars and programmes towards improving the behaviours of the union members.

He equally said people around him can testify that he doesn’t smoke nor drink.

This is even as the NURTW chairman stated that measures are already in place to discipline any member caught misbehaving or projecting the union in negative light due to substance abuse.
