A 56-year-old man, Sunny Obi, who allegedly threatened to kill a husband and wife, was on Thursday brought before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
Obi is standing trial on a charge of threatening violence to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 20, at 5:00 p.m., at No. 12/14, Akwu Iwu St., Ijegun near Ikotun, a suburb of Lagos.
He said that the defendant threatened to kill a couple, one Mr. Emmanuel Igein and his wife, Roseline, over a misunderstanding.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 56(1a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The magistrate, Mr E. O. Ogunkanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until March 14 for mention.
