Unknown gunmen suspected to be armed robbers allegedly invaded The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where they allegedly shot a lecturer.
The assailants were said to have invaded the north campus of the institution and some flats housing lecturers in the early hours of Monday.
Daily Post reports that one of the lecturers in the institution, identified as Emmanuel Okedara, was shot.
The victim is said to currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole, confirmed the incident on Monday.
Soladoye, in a telephone conversation with Daily Post noted that the institution has put necessary security arrangements in place to forestall future occurrences.
He said, “Yes. He is a staff of the institution. He is a teaching assistant, but you know that everybody is under our care.
“You know at this period, crime is always rampant.
“But, we have beefed up security in the campus.”
