A 27-year-old security guard, Labiru Umar, on Thursday appeared before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, charged with stealing his employer’s truck parts worth N10 million.
Umar, with no fixed address, however pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing preferred against him by the police.
The prosecutor, Insp Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 27, at 2.00 a.m., at No. 94, Old Akesan Road, Igando, Lagos State.
He said that the defendant stole parts of a truck including wires, air-hole, Aluminium guard and spare tyres, belonging to the complainant, one Mr. Innocent Ogu.
The prosecutor said that the alleged stolen items were estimated to be worth N10 million.
According to him, the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr. E. O. Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant N2million bail with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunkanmi said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State.
The magistrate adjourned the case until April 25 for mention.
