Kidnappers free abducted Delta lawyers, driver

The three Delta State lawyers who were abducted alongside their driver on Wednesday have been freed by their captors on Saturday afternoon.

Recall that the victims, Fred Aburu, Isreal Unurierume, Eda Gbejule, and their driver, Kome Esike, were ambushed and abducted along the Benin-Auchi road, on their way to a high court in Edo State on Wednesday.

The PUNCH reported that the lawyers who were attached to the Warri Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association and their driver were released by the kidnappers at about 1:05am on Saturday, at a forest location near Ogbemudia farm, close to their abduction point.

Although it has not been ascertained if any ransom was paid, their release was confirmed by the Chairman, NBA Warri Branch, Emmanuel Uti.

According to a terse message sent by Uti, he expressed thanks to God and everyone who made efforts toward the release of the kidnapped lawyers and their driver.

Meanwhile, Uti, said he would formally issue a press statement on the incident later.
