Hours after he was whisked away by his abductors in Bauchi State, Alamin, son of Nigeria's Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Professor Ali Isa Pantami, has been rescued.

Eyewitnesses said that the minister’s son was found at a checkpoint in Dambam, where he was abandoned on Friday.

Until he was abducted, the victim lived with his grandmother in Bauchi.

One of the victim’s guardians, who craved anonymity confirmed his release.

He said, “We just left the house; he is back home now. He was found in Dambam, where his abductors dropped him. They dropped him at a checkpoint and from there, he was brought home.”

It was, however, not clear if a ransom was paid to secure Alamin's freedom from his abductors.

When contacted, the Chief Imam of Isa Ali Jummaat Mosque, Imam Hussaini, who earlier declined comment on the incident, also acknowledged that, “The boy is at home.”

Meanwhile Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, told Daily Trust that the matter was not reported.

Ahmed alleged that he reached out to all the Divisional Police Officers in the metropolis, who equally confirmed that the matter was not reported.
