Group demands justice as father breaks baby's arm

The National Human Rights Commission has demanded the arrest of a father, Confidence Amatobi, who allegedly broke the arm of his two-month-old son in Imo State.

According to The PUNCH, it was obtained that Amatobi, who is on the run, said the baby was disturbing his sleep.

The child was transported to Owerri's Federal Medical Centre, where his damaged hand was amputated to save his life.

According to the coordinator of the NHRC, Mrs Uka Ukachi on Tuesday said the commission visited the infant and her mother at Ward 13, FMC, Owerri.

While appealing to the public to come to the aid of the boy and his mother, Ukachi urged the police to apprehend the fugitive father and bring him to justice.

She stated that the NHRC was dedicated to ensuring that the victim received justice.

She said, “The man is on the run. The boy’s hand has been amputated. He is at the FMC, Owerri. We want the father to answer for his crime. We demand his arrest. The kid needs justice.”

The police have yet to issue a statement on the incident.
