Fraudster who impersonated Akwa Ibom commissioner, slept with 10 victims arrested

A suspected fraudster named Mr Imaobong Akpan has been arrested by operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department for allegedly impersonating the state Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno.

The PUNCH reported that Akpan impersonated the commissioner on Facebook, defrauded unsuspecting members of the public, mostly women, by offering them fake jobs after having sex with them.

Akpan has since been paraded by the state police at the command headquarters, Ikot Akpan, on Tuesday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko MacDon, revealed that the suspect was arrested based on a petition.

At least five SIM cards, two phones, seven dollars and five yuan were recovered from the suspect upon his arrest.

He said, “The suspect, who is a notorious fraudster and sex maniac, confessed to have fraudulently created the Facebook account.

“He used the said account to lure innocent and unsuspecting ladies to hotels, have carnal knowledge of them with a promise to assist them secure jobs while defrauding others of various sums of money running into millions.

“He succeeded in luring more than 10 ladies through the fraudulent Facebook account and had sexual intercourse with them at various hotels while posing as the personal assistant to the honourable commissioner.”

The publication added that while confessing to the crime, the suspect claimed he did not know what pushed him into the act.
