No fewer than 20 houses and two shops were affected in another fire outbreak at Oko Baba Sawmill in Ebute Metta, Lagos State.
The Tuesday's inferno is coming five months after a similar incident occurred at the sawmill in April.
VANGUARD reported that the fire which started around 1.10p.m was later brought inder control by Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
Although the firefighters’ effort was said to have prevented the inferno from extending to the adjoining shanties and residential areas, the fire was wreaked havoc on some parts of the sawmill.
The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Adeseye Margaret, said that no life was lost or injuries sustained during the incident.
She noted that men from Sari-Iganmu and Ilupeju saved adjoining buildings and the high risk environment.
She said: “The fire which involved a saw mill, two shops and about 20 living rooms, was extinguished in record time with neither record of injury nor death.
“The Federal Fire Service is also in attendance as damping down of echelon of fire ongoing.”
