FCT trader Ibrahim to spend six months in jail for hemp smoking, assault
An Upper Area Court in Jos on Monday, sentenced a 25-year-old trader Anas Ibrahim to six months imprisonment for smoking hemp and disturbing public peace.
The judge, Ms Irene Pati, who sentenced Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to the offence, gave him an option of a fine .
She ordered the convict to pay N10,000 for the offence of being a nuisance and inciting disturbance or spend three months for theft.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Labaran Ahamed told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo Police station on November 27, 2021 by Malam Ibrahim Suleiman, the complainant.
The prosecutor said that the convict smoked some wrap of dried leaves and started troubling his neighbours without provocation.
He said the convict also stole from his neighbours.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 151, 78, 160 and 272 of the Plateau Penal Code law.
