Fayemi probes convoy over alleged assault on motorist

The convoy of Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State is being investigated for allegedly assaulting a motorist in Akure, Ondo State last week.

The security operatives attached to the Governor were accused of assaulting Dapo Oshituyi who added that he was brutalised in the presence of the governor.

Oshituyi also claimed that his vehicle was vandalised, however, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode, claimed the governor was not aware of the incident.

In a statement titled Re: Alleged assault on motorist, Oyebode said, “It is, however, important to state clearly that the Governor, Dr Fayemi, is not aware of the incident and cannot be a party to any form of assault on a citizen.

“We empathise with the victim and affirm our belief that no citizen should suffer any form of brutality in contravention of extant laws.

“The allegation is currently being investigated by the state government and relevant security agencies.

“We kindly implore Mr Oshituyi to contact the Governor’s Office, Oke Bareke, Ado Ekiti with useful information to help the investigations.

“We assure members of the public that the Government of Ekiti State, in line with its principle of justice and fairness, will be fair in handling the matter.”
