Funmilayo Adekunle, mother of the car dealer, Adeyinka, who was tortured to death by some soldiers at the Ibodi Barracks area of Ilesa in Osun State has fallen ill.
The Punch quoted the father of the deceased, Pa David Adekunle, as saying that the health condition of his wife became worse on Wednesday.
WuzupNaija gathered that the deceased and a friend, Solomon Ogundare, went to a relaxation center in the Imo area of Ilesa on March 24.
A disagreement ensued after three soldiers, who were in mufti, pleaded to be given drinks by the friends but they refused.
A fight subsequently broke out after the dispute.
One of the military officers phoned the Ibodi barracks and soldiers stormed the area.
While Adeyinka escaped from the scene, his friend was caught and taken to the barracks.
Adeyinka was arrested the following day when he went to the barracks in the company of his friend’s sister, Elizabeth Itunu, to secure the release of his vehicle and Ogundare.
He died after soldiers subjected him to rounds of torture, they also reportedly forced him to eat his vomit.
Pa David, who said his wife had sleepless night regarding the incident, noted that her health condition deteriorated because she lost her appetite.
He urged the authorities to fufill the demands of the family, saying appropriate punishments must be meted out to the suspects.
He said; “She took ill last night (Wednesday). She could not sleep or eat. Her situation is getting critical. Whenever she remembers that her son is lying dead in a morgue, she starts crying.
“I just hope the military authorities will act on our demands. They should make public the identities of those involved and ensure that we get justice in this matter.”
The spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, 2 Division, Major Ikedichi Iweha, did not answer his call after multiple times.
He had also yet to reply to a text message sent to him on the matter as of the time of filing this report.
