Explosion kills one, injures seven at Yobe beer parlour
A beer parlour explosion has killed one person and injured seven others in Gashua, the headquarters of Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Sunday night’s tragedy comes barely five days after Boko Haram killed 10 people in another beer parlour in the Geidam area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Yobe State Command, ASP Dungus Abdulkareem, confirmed the report in a chat with The PUNCH.
In what was described as a coordinated attack, Abdulkareem said that the explosion was caused by Improvised Explosive Device which went off at 7:20pm at Abasha Gidan Amarya drinking joint.
“It looks like a coordinated attack targeted at drinking joint. Our EOD detectives are at the scene to find out what type of explosion and the cause of the explosion,” he said.
Meanwhile, all seven injured victims are receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital, Gashua.
“There is one person that is confirmed dead with seven others as casualties. More details will come up after the investigation,” Abdulkareem added.
