Chidinma: Prison controller Ekpendu redeployed two weeks after controversial Pageant

Published

Comptroller of Kirikiri Female Correctional Centre, Lizzie Ekpendu, has been reportedly redeployed to the Lagos Command Headquarters in Alagbon, Ikoyi.

Her redeployment is coming two weeks after the recent beauty pageant, which took place in her facility.

Footage and stunning photos from the controversial contest, which eventually produced Chidinma Ojukwu as winner of ‘Miss Cell 2022,’ went viral.

In one of such viral photographs uploaded on Instagram, the murder suspect was seen wearing a leopard-skin gown as she smiled down the runway.

The clip of Chidinma and other female inmates, gorgeously dressed and strutting down the runway, created mixed feelings among Nigerians.

While some Nigerians saw nothing wrong in organising prison pageants to commemorate the annual International Women’s Day, many felt it amounted to an insult to Usifo family who are still grieving their loss.
