A Christ Apostolic Bible Church pastor, Peter Taiwo and his wife have been arrested by operatives of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly conniving to rape a choir member.
The PUNCH reports that the clergyman whose church is at Alaja Oke, Saje, Abeokuta defiled the 16-year-old victim who reported the crime at the Adatan Divisional headquarters.
According to the police, Taiwo's wife, Elizabeth Taiwo, aided the crime by allegedly luring the teenager to her husband's room before locking the doors to the victim.
Following the couple's arrest on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Sunday, revealed that Elizabeth lured the victim into their room under the pretence of an errand, allowing her husband to overpower her, and forcefully had sex with her.
“She explained further that the pastor’s wife later came in after her husband had satisfied himself and met her crying and she told her to stop crying as she is now a woman, she then warned her never to tell anybody or else she will die.
“Upon the report, the DPO Adatan Division, SP Salaudeen Abiodun, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene, where the randy pastor and his wife were promptly apprehended.
“On interrogation, the couple confessed to the crime but blamed the devil for it. They also pleaded for forgiveness from the victim.
“The victim has been taken to hospital by the police for medical treatment,” the PPRO revealed, adding that the suspects have been transferred to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
