Messi, Ronaldo, others pay tribute to Diego Maradona
Football superstars including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have paid tribute to late football legend, Diego Maradona.
Dubbed one of the greatest to ever step on the pitch, Maradona died of cardiac arrest in his home on Wednesday, Nove 25.
Heir to the Maradona throne of footballing records, Messi took to Instagram to bid farewell to the former Napoli legend.
“A very sad day for all Argentines and for football. He’s left us but he hasn’t gone, because Diego is eternal,” he wrote alongside pictures of the two of them together.
“I’ll keep all the great times I enjoyed with him and want to take the opportunity to send my deepest respects to all his family and friends. RIP.”

Portuguese star, Ronaldo also paid respect to Maradona via his Instagram with a picture they took together years ago.
He said: “Today I bid farewell to a friend and the world farewells to an eternal genius. One of the best ever. An unmatched magician. Leaves too soon but leaves a boundless legacy and a void that will never be filled. RIP crack. You will never be forgotten.”
