Nigerian music star Davido has shared how meeting American R&B singer Chris Brown helped shape his music career.
In a recent interview on the *Bagfuel Brigade* podcast, Davido said his first contact with Chris Brown happened in 2018 and it had a big impact on him.
“Meeting Chris Brown changed my life,” he said. “He had a Nigerian friend, one of his best friends. One day, the guy called me on FaceTime and my song was playing in the background. I asked where he was and he said he was at Chris Brown’s house. I was like, ‘What? Y’all playing my music?’ And he showed me Chris dancing to my song.”
Davido added that the friend then gave the phone to Chris Brown and they spoke for the first time. “A few months later, I went to America and linked up with Chris. From the first time we met, we just naturally became friends,” he added.
Since then, the friendship has led to several collaborations between the two artists, blending Afrobeats and R&B in fresh ways.
One of their latest songs, ‘Hmmm’ (2024), was featured on Chris Brown’s album. The track received massive support from fans, especially after the music video dropped in June 2024.
In 2025, they teamed up again on a song titled ‘Titanium’, which appears on Davido’s album 5IVE. In the song, they sing about strength, self-worth, and staying true to themselves.
