The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, known as MC Oluomo, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to forgive Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly called K1 De Ultimate, over a recent airport incident.
K1, 68, was accused by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria of breaking aviation rules while boarding a ValueJet Airlines flight from Abuja to Lagos. FAAN’s spokesperson, Obiageli Orah, said the singer allegedly brought alcohol on board, which is banned on domestic flights, leading to a dispute with a flight attendant.
Following the matter, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, placed a six-month no-fly ban on him for both local and international travel, pending investigations.
In a statement on Instagram on Monday, MC Oluomo asked Tinubu, NCAA boss Capt. Chris Najomo, and Keyamo to show mercy.
“To His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, humbly and fervently appeal to you to exercise mercy and forgiveness towards Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1). Like a prodigal son, K1 has acknowledged his mistakes, is sincerely apologetic, and is willing to make amends,” he wrote.
He also urged that the ban on both K1 and the pilot involved, Oluranti Ogoyi, be lifted.
