Paris Saint Germain forward, Kylian Mbappé has reportedly made the decision to join Real Madrid once his contract expires this summer according to French newspaper Le Parisien.

sources confirmed to ESPN. Le Parisien was the first to report the news.

According to ESPN, Mbappé had received an offer from Madrid, and according to sources, he is expected to announce his move to the 14-time European champions next week.

While Mbappé, 25, has not yet informed PSG or Real Madrid officially, sources indicate that his choice has been made.

His wish to represent France at the Olympic Games on home soil this summer will be a key aspect of negotiations with Madrid.

Considering Mbappé’s past indecision over a transfer to the Bernabéu in 2022, there remains a possibility of a change of heart until both parties formally conclude the deal. Nonetheless, his long-awaited move to Madrid appears imminent this summer.

One source informed ESPN that PSG proposed a salary increase on his €72 million gross salary, but Mbappé turned down their offer. Sources suggest that by leaving PSG as a free agent, Mbappé will forego bonuses worth approximately €100m.

It is anticipated that Mbappé’s wages at Madrid will be half of what he currently earns at PSG.

The France captain, who admired Bernabéu icons Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo during his upbringing, has always aspired to play for Madrid. Sources reveal that he believes the timing is right in his career to make the move to the Spanish capital.

According to other sources, PSG had devised two contingency plans for their future strategies — one with Mbappé staying and one without. However, there has been a growing sentiment within the club for several weeks that he would depart.

With Mbappé’s decision finalized, PSG will proceed with their backup plan and have reportedly earmarked AC Milan’s Rafael Leão as his replacement.
