Eight years after their record-breaking $300 million showdown, boxing legends Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are reportedly in discussions for a long-anticipated rematch—this time as an exhibition bout set for December 2025.
According to Marca, Pacquiao recently confirmed the talks are underway, stating, “We’re working on it.” Though it will not be a professional contest, the prospect of both fighters returning to the ring has reignited global interest among boxing enthusiasts.
Their initial meeting in May 2015 ended in a unanimous decision win for Mayweather, a result that sparked controversy. Pacquiao contested the outcome, insisting he had landed cleaner punches and accusing Mayweather of “running too much.”
While Mayweather has since maintained that he had moved on from professional boxing, his recent streak of high-profile exhibition fights suggests a rematch remains within reach—if the conditions are right.
A second bout, even in exhibition format, would be a media and commercial spectacle. It promises to captivate both veteran boxing fans and a younger audience increasingly engaged through digital and streaming platforms.
Though an official date or venue has not been confirmed, Las Vegas is being considered as the most likely host city. If finalized, the fight could rank among the most anticipated sporting events of 2025.
