Mariah Carey’s Twitter account hacked, Eminem targeted

On Tuesday afternoon, Mariah Carey’s Twitter account was hacked, after which numerous racist slurs and Eminem-directed tweets were shared with her 21.4 million followers on the platform.

Though the person behind the hack is yet to be found, tweets shared on her account, mentioned the Chuckling Squad, a hacker group that compromised Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s account in August.

Most of the tweets published on Tuesday afternoon were quickly deleted. Many verged on the nonsensical and appeared to troll the singer’s fans.

“Personally I don’t think racism is real, it’s just pussy boy talk,” one tweet read.

“Eminem has a small penis,” read another.

(Mariah Carey and rapper Eminem once had a very public feud, in which he claimed to have slept with the singer.)

There was also a tweet referencing his daughter.

Commenting on the hack, a Twitter spokesperson said;

“As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we locked the compromised account and are currently investigating the situation.”

Also reacting to the hack, Mariah Carey disclosed that she was sleeping when it occurred. She tweeted;

“i take a freaking nap and this happens”

Some Twitter users also delivered their own commentary on the situation at hand;

“Hacking Mariah Carey is a federal offense so I hope it was worth it!”

This is coming after the singer’s modern classic “All I Want For Christmas” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time this month – 25 years after its original release.
