The death of a commercial motorcycle operator popularly called Okada has led to an alarming protest by his colleagues on Sunday morning in Karu, Abuja.
Many vehicles were allegedly attacked as residents stayed indoors while Churches in the area were locked.
The Nation reported that the incident occurred in the Karu community of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), residents of Karu, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi are towns in the area affected.
The protest took place on Sunday morning following the death of a commercial motorcyclist who was shot by police.
The protesters, who assembled in their numbers commenced a quiet protest that later turned violent.
Residents and motorists have been advised to stay off the route until things get to normal.
As at the time of filing this report, there was restriction of movement as people who went to church are still being trapped in their various places of worship.
Security personnel have been deployed to most of the Churches to ensure that the protesters did not burn down the worship centres.
A joint team of soldiers and police officers deployed to the area were reported to have repeatedly engaged the irate protesters who fought back with stones.
