Many injured as vehicles collide on Third Mainland bridge

Several people were injured on Monday morning after a Toyota Camry collided with a commercial bus, popularly known as Danfo, on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The crash happened just before Adekunle Junction on the lane heading to Lagos Island. Witnesses said the bus somersaulted several times, throwing passengers out and causing panic among other road users.

The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad confirmed the incident in a statement. It said no lives were lost, but many passengers were hurt.

“A road traffic accident involving a Toyota Camry and a commercial bus (Danfo) occurred before Adekunle Junction, inward Lagos Island, leaving several passengers injured. The bus reportedly somersaulted multiple times after the collision,” the statement read.

The RRS said its motorbike and patrol teams quickly arrived to give first aid and support the victims. Police officers from the Adekunle Division were also at the scene, helping with rescue and crowd control.

Emergency responders later cleared the damaged vehicles from the road and traffic returned to normal.
