England and Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney scored a spectacular chip in his club’s 4-0 demolition of Feyernood in the Europa League on Thursday night.

This was all the club supporters needed to galvanize them into a frenzy as most of them were ecstatic after the lob over the opposing goalkeeper.

The out-of-favour captain had been blamed for the team’s many woes and manager, Jose Mourinho, coped well by dropping the skipper to the bench a couple of times instead of starting him in important games.

But Rooney, a former Everton upstart, refused to give up and did not even complain as he remained content with his place in the team. He has now rewarded the manager’s faith in him by churning out fantastic displays week-in, week-out, one of which was in Thursday night’s match.

With his goal as well, Rooney is just a goal shy of equaling Sir Bobby Charlton all-time goalscoring record for the Old Trafford outfit.
