Manchester United have suffered another setback in their quest for a Champions League spot after playing a 1-1 draw against Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Jadon Sancho netted his first Old Trafford goal since joining the Red Devils in the summer as the hosts took the slim lead into the first half.

But it was déjà vu all over again when Ché Adams scored a brilliant equaliser to level things up after just three minutes into the second half.

United’s attempt to regain the lead proved futile as seen in their last two matches where they had gone into the break ahead by a goal margin only to end up sharing the spoils.

Interim manager, Ralf Ragnick, has now suffered his sixth draw since joining United with the team leading in five of the six matches.

United move level on 40 points with fourth-placed West Ham United who are yet to play this weekend, one above sixth-placed Arsenal who have about two games at hand.

Manchester United have averaged fewer goals per game under Ralf Rangnick than they have under any other manager in Premier League history (1.4 – 14 goals in 10 games).

For only the second time in their Premier League history, Manchester United have failed to win back-to-back matches despite being ahead at half-time in both, having last done so in December 1998.
