Manchester United has signed Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce for a reported £4.3 million.
Bayindir has agreed to a four-year contract with the option of a further 12-month extension. Following Dean Henderson’s move to Crystal Palace, he will serve as backup for United’s first-choice keeper, Andre Onana.
Bayindir will become the first Turkish player to represent Manchester United when he makes his debut.
He expressed his excitement about joining the club and is looking forward to working with the experienced goalkeeping unit.
“It is a huge honour to join Manchester United and become the first Turkish player to represent this incredible club,” Bayindir said.
“I have a passion for success, and I will give everything to help this special group of players to achieve our ambitions.
“I cannot wait to start working with such an experienced goalkeeping unit. We will support each other and drive high standards every day so that each of us is ready to perform whenever called upon.”
Bayindir made 166 appearances in his career, with 53 clean sheets.
