Man Utd outcast Sancho set for Dortmund return

Published

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are currently engaged in discussions regarding a potential loan deal for Jadon Sancho, according to a report on ESPN.

Dortmund is eager to secure Sancho’s services until the season’s end but has proposed that United continue covering the majority of his wages.

Having been embroiled in a public dispute with manager Erik ten Hag, the 23-year-old has been sidelined from playing for United since August. During this period, Sancho has undergone solitary training under the supervision of club staff.

Despite attracting interest from Juventus and RB Leipzig, Sancho reportedly favors a return to his former club, Dortmund, from which he departed in 2021 for a £73 million deal with United.

Acknowledging the slim likelihood of Sancho’s future at Old Trafford under Ten Hag’s management, United is eager to minimize the financial implications of his departure.

Sancho’s substantial weekly wage, exceeding £300k, proves challenging for most European clubs, including Dortmund. United is prepared to subsidize at least a portion of his salary, drawing parallels with the loan deal negotiated with Eintracht Frankfurt for Donny van de Beek.

According to sources, Dortmund is seeking United’s commitment to cover up to two-thirds of Sancho’s wage as part of the potential loan agreement.

Sancho’s last appearance for United dates back to the 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on August 26, where he came on as a second-half substitute.

However, Ten Hag dropped him from the squad for the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal on September 3, citing poor performances in training as the reason.

The manager has insisted on both a private and public apology from Sancho, a condition the player has thus far refused to meet.
