Manchester United has officially confirmed contract extensions for three key first-team players – Hannibal Mejbri, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Victor Lindelof.

All three players were originally set to become free agents at the end of the ongoing season but have secured contract extensions.

Additionally, manager Erik ten Hag revealed that discussions are underway regarding the future of Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial, both French nationals.

“We are in talks with Rapha Varane and with Anthony Martial,” stated Ten Hag during a press briefing on Thursday. “Furthermore, we have exercised the options to extend the contracts of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, and Hannibal.”

When questioned about Varane and Martial, Ten Hag indicated, “I believe that is a matter for internal discussions between the club and the players.” Varane, a significant earner in the United squad, had previously been linked with a potential return to his former club, Real Madrid.

Addressing the performances of Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka, who have played intermittent roles throughout the current season, particularly during periods of injury setbacks for Manchester United, Ten Hag commented, “Victor Lindelof has been instrumental in covering various positions, from full-back to central defence, showcasing his versatility in the absence of key players like Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.”

In regard to academy graduate Hannibal, the Manchester U ited boss highlighted the player’s potential by saying, “Hannibal’s progress has been evident, and we believe he has a significant role to play in the squad. His recent goal against Brighton only solidified our confidence in his abilities.”

Despite speculations about a potential loan move away from Old Trafford, Ten Hag intervened, preventing the departure of Hannibal.

“There were discussions about a potential loan move for Hannibal, but we believe he is an integral part of our squad, especially in the absence of Casemiro and Mason Mount due to injuries,” emphasized the manager.
