Cavani Man Utd Granada Europa League

Manchester United have qualified for the semifinals of the Europa League after beating Granada 2-0 in the second leg of their quarter-final tie at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils were already cruising with a 2-0 away advantage against the Spaniards, thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, as they looked to seal their spot in the last four of the competition.

United dealt the visitors a further blow with an early goal through Edinson Cavani after just six minutes; the Uruguayan volleyed the ball into the net after a sweet header from Paul Pogba.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side remained in control of the game as goalkeeper David De Gea was on holiday for the most part of the game.

The Spaniard was however called upon towards the end of the game and he denied the La Liga club a consolation goal.

With a few minutes into added time, Granada gifted United an own goal as Jesus Vallejo unwittingly headed an Alex Telles cross into his own net, giving United a 2-0 win (4-0 on aggregate).

The Old Trafford outfit are now back to where they ended last season in the competition which appears to be their only chance for a trophy this season.

United will now face Roma, who eliminated Ajax, in this season’s semifinal.
