Jadon Sancho forced an own goal off Ben Mee in the 27th minute to give the hosts a two-goal lead.
Cristiano Ronaldo made it 3-0 eight minutes later by tapping the ball into an open net after McTominay’s super shot struck the bar before drifting towards the Portuguese.
United were caught napping moments later when Eric Bailly’s poor control was snatched by Aaron Lennon who made the most of the effort to score a consolation for the visitors three minutes later.
The victory sees United move four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with one game at hand.
Under Ragnick, United have been able to amass a total of ten points in four matches and unbeaten in all competitions under the German.
Meanwhile, Burnley go into 2022 sitting in the bottom three with at least three matches at hand.
