Manchester United could be tempted to cut their losses with Paul Pogba and offload the midfielder to Real Madrid.

Madrid remain the favourites to land the Frenchman’s signature and have reportedly offered four stars to Man United as potential makeweights in the deal.

The Mirror UK reports that among the makeweights are former Tottenham star Gareth Bale, who is unsettled in Madrid, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Isco.

Man United are resigned to losing Pogba – who has barely played this season – but have received a boost in their pursuit of Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen.

The Red Devils are hopeful of persuading the Dane on a switch to Old Trafford when his contract expires in the summer.

Eriksen is already able to enter pre-contract negotiations, but Man United’s interest looked under threat from Inter Milan.

The Nerazzurri were linked with a £20 million bid to take Eriksen to the San Siro this month, however, they have since denied holding any talks with the player.

Inter are instead believed to be eyeing a move for Barcelona’s midfield enforcer Arturo Vidal, while rivals Juventus have ruled out selling either Emre Can or Adrien Rabiot in January.

Bayern Munich have sent a similar response to Chelsea, after rumours linked the Blues with a £60 million move for David Alaba.

Arsenal were also hopeful of landing Bayern’s Jerome Boateng, but have been told he’s not for sale.

Meanwhile Man City are keeping tabs on Inter’s Slovakian defender Milan Skriniar as Pep Guardiola looks to bolster his options at the back.

Celtic’s Scott Sinclair looks set for a return to England with Preston, Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster is expected to complete a loan switch to Swansea, and Luka Modric is reportedly in talks over a transfer to the MLS.
