Sometimes, it is hard to put up self control with the law. But it is a must, else you get into trouble bigger than you can handle.

Olawunmi Oladele now knows that fact. The 41-year-old businessman was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos State for beating up two female police officers.

Oladele beat Inspector Patricia Okhide and Sergeant Funmilayo Adeamo while they were performing their lawful duties. He also reportedly slapped one police officer at the police station.

Prosecutor for the policewomen, Inspector George Nwosu, told the court presided by Magistrate A.A. Adesanya, that the accused committed the offenses on October 12, 2016, at Iju in the Agege area of the state. Nwosu told the court that the accused obstructed the complainants from arresting one Mrs. Kemi Saka who is now at large.

“The complainants were controlling traffic when they arrested Mrs. Kemi Saka for blocking the road with her car and prevented other road users from having right of way,” Nwosu told the court.

“They ordered Saka to follow them to the station but the accused who was only a passerby stopped and interrupted, telling Saka not to obey their instructions. In the process, Saka escaped with her car and the accused was arrested but he resisted arrest and was beating and fighting the policewomen in order to avoid arrest.”

When the charges were read to him, Oladele pleaded not guilty and Magistrate Adesanya granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000, with two sureties in like sum while the case was adjourned till December 7, 2016, for a mention.
