The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Oluwadamilare Ewedemi, a resident of Ifo Local Government Area, for allegedly sexually abusing his 21-year-old daughter and impregnating her five times.

The victim, whose name was withheld, alleged that her father had subjected her to sexual abuse since 2019 and procured illegal abortions for each of the five pregnancies.

According to police reports, the victim lost her mother as an infant. Her father placed her in a motherless home in Ikeja, Lagos State, and later took her to Ijebu Ode in 2019 under the pretence of guardianship.

The victim claimed that her father began sexually abusing her in 2019 and continued the abuse over several years, leading to five pregnancies, which he helped terminate.

The police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the suspect’s arrest on Monday.

Babaseyi said the victim escaped from her father’s residence on Sunday, February 1, 2026, due to excessive harassment, and relocated to a church in Pakoto mountain. She later reported the acts to police officers at Ifo.

“On 26th March 2026, one ‘F’, aged 21 years, reported at Ifo Division that she had been subjected to sexual abuse by her biological father, Oluwadamilare Ewedemi,” Babaseyi said.

“On 1st February 2026, she bravely escaped from her father’s residence due to the excessive harassment, and relocated to a church in Pakoto Mountain.”

He said operatives of the Ifo Division acted immediately on a tip-off and successfully arrested the suspect.

“The suspect is now in police custody, and preliminary investigations are ongoing. The case has been transferred to the Gender Desk for thorough investigation and prosecution,” Babaseyi added.
