A man identified simply as Iseleto has fled his community after allegedly stabbing his 23-year-old son, Miracle, to death on Sunday in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to sources, the incident occurred after Miracle rented a separate apartment for his father’s wife and himself in an attempt to foster peace in the household. This gesture reportedly provoked the father, who lured his son into a nearby bush and stabbed him multiple times with a dagger.

After the attack, Iseleto immediately fled the community. The wounded son managed to move from the bush to the roadside, where passersby rushed him to a local hospital. He later died after recounting how his father tricked him and carried out the fatal attack.

It was gathered that the suspect admitted to the crime during a phone call with his step-daughter. He also reportedly called other relatives, threatening to kill his wife and step-daughter for leaving the marital home.

Residents described the suspect as a drunkard and chronic debtor who frequently beat his wife. “He would want to forcefully have sexual intercourse with his wife in the presence of their children in their one-room apartment, and when she refuses, he starts beating her,” one source stated. They also alleged he attempted to assault his step-daughter and drove her out when she refused.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating, “Confirmed. Suspect is at large.”
