Man City hold Liverpool in EPL cracker

Published

Liverpool and Manchester City cancelled each other out to share the spoils in a dramatic 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday night.

The defending Champions who defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend stole the show against Liverpool in the first half.

Although Pep Guardiola’s men failed to break the home team’s defence, Jurgen Klopp who’s men thumped Porto 5-1 in the Champions League during the mid-week registered only one shot against the visitors going into the break.

Liverpool returned with more determination and vigour and Klopp’s halftime talk paid off eventually as the hosts took the lead through Sadio Mané after an assist from Mohammed Salah in the 59th minute.

The lead only lasted for 10 minutes as the Kop was silenced by the brilliance of the man of the match contender, Phil Foden, who has proved to be a nemesis to Liverpool.

Liverpool turned the heat on again in search of all three points and got their reward through a sublime finish from Salah in the 76th minute after the Egyptian dribbled his way past a tight City defence before a right-footed finish to beat Ederson.

Klopp’s men looked like they were running away with the win until But five minutes later when Kevin De Bruyne silenced the Kop yet against with an equaliser as both teams shared the points.
