Premier League giants, Manchester City, have won the race to sign Europe’s most-wanted striker, Erling Haaland, from Borussia Dortmund.
The Citizens confirmed the news in an official statement on Tuesday, ending the long search for a specialist centre-forward to replace record goalscorer Sergio Aguero, who departed the club in 2021.
“Manchester City can confirm that we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022. The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player.

Meanwhile, respected Italian sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, reported that the 21-year-old has passed his medicals and the Premier League club will announce his official signing this week.
“Here we go! Haaland has passed medical tests as a new Man City player today, he’s back in Dortmund. It will be OFFICIAL this week #MCFC Man City told the BVB board that they will activate the release clause [closer to €60m than €75m] in a few hours.”
Reacting to the news, City defender, Aymeric Laporte, tweeted, “Happy not to be running after this guy for the next couple of years Welcome Erling.”
Haaland, whose father Alf-Inge played for City from 2000 to 2003, has been sensational since joining Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020, scoring 85 goals in 88 appearances for the German side.
