Man charged with murder, attempted murder of eight-year-old, mother

An eight-year-old girl, Malika Al Kattib, has tragically lost her life, while her mother, Aisha Al Kattib, sustained injuries in a violent attack at their home in New Ross, County Wexford, Ireland.

The accused, Mohammad Al Shaker Al Tamimi, with an address at Lower William Street, New Ross, has been charged with Malika’s murder and the attempted murder of Aisha.

He appeared before the Gorey District Court on Wednesday evening, where the charges were formally presented.

According to reports from Irish broadcaster RTÉ, a Detective Garda provided evidence during the court proceedings, stating that Mr. Al Tamimi was arrested, charged, and cautioned at University Hospital Waterford just after 5:00 pm local time on Wednesday.

The officer also confirmed that the accused made no response to the charges.

Following his court appearance, Mr. Al Tamimi was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Wexford District Court via video link on 9 December.

The judge presiding over the case has also ordered a psychological evaluation for the accused, as investigations into the tragic incident continue.

Meanwhile, Malika’s mother, Aisha, who was injured in the attack, is receiving medical care, with authorities confirming that her injuries are not life-threatening.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the New Ross community, as friends, neighbors, and local authorities express their grief and call for justice for the young victim.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
