Man bitten by eight-foot shark found on California beach
A 35-year-old man swimming off San Mateo County coast in California on Saturday morning was bitten in the right leg by a white shark.
The incident was confirmed by the San Mateo County Sheriff, Lt. Eamonn Allen.
US News described the white shark as eight-foot-long.
The country’s Sheriff stated that the man swam to shore and paramedics, firefighters, police officers and park employees arrived on the scene about 9:15 a.m.
“The male was able to swim to shore and medical aid was summoned,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The yet-to-be-identified man was transported to Stanford for treatment.
Firefighters said that first responders found the man on the beach “with a confirmed bite to his body.”
“Patient was treated with advanced life support measures and transported to a local trauma centre in serious condition,” CAL FIRE San Mateo’s Santa Cruz Unit tweeted.
State park officials prohibited water activities off the beach, as well as off nearby Montara State Beach, for the next 48 hours and will post signs to advise beachgoers of the closure, said California State Parks spokesman, Gabe McKenna.
