A councillor in Bariga Local Council Development Area of Lagos has died aged 45.
The deceased, Solomon Adewale Awokoya aka Ogbogbon, was said to have given up the ghost on his birthday.
Before his death, Awokoya was representing Ward ‘C’ in the Bariga LCDA Legislative House. He reportedly spoke with some people till 2 am on Saturday before his demise.
He is survived by his mother, wife and children.
Reports said the deceased contested for the post of a councillor three times, before his victory the fourth time on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Bariga LCDA Chairman Kolade Alabi said he would be sorely missed.
“I hope we can take some comfort in knowing that he was a great friend. A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on. Surely he will not be forgotten. May God bless and comfort the Awokoya family during this difficult period and the Bariga APC in general,” Alabi said.
