A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, remanded one Terkimbir Ujah for over alleged attempted homicide and armed robbery.
Ujahfor, who resides at 36, B Street, Gboko East, Makurdi, is facing a two-count charge bordering on attempted culpable homicide and armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs Ajuma Igama, ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Federal Correctional Centre, Makurdi.
Igama, refused to take the plea of the defendant for lack of jurisdiction.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Ato Godwin, told the court that the case was reported by one Msughshima Ashiekaa of 29, E. K. Ashiekaa Close, GRA, Gboko, Benue, at ‘A’ Division Police Station, Gboko.
Godwin said that the complainant was attacked by three unidentified armed men, while sitting in front of her house.
“The armed men came to her house on a motorcycle, with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, and robbed her of her handbag containing valuables,” the prosecutor said.
He said that the complainant tried to resist assaults from the hoodlums, adding that in an attempt to kill her, she was inflicted with cuts in her hands through cutlasses, while she sustained varying degrees of injuries.
“During police investigation, the defendant was arrested and he confessed to committing the crime with one Shima who is currently at large,” Godwin said.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 6(b), 1(1) (2)(a) (b) of the Robbery and Special Provisions Act, 2004 and Section 230 of the Penal Code, Cap 124, Vol. 2, Revised Law of Benue State, 2004.
The prosecutor said that the matter was still been investigated and prayed the court to adjourn the case.
The magistrate, thereafter, adjourned the case till Feb. 2, for further mention.
