The police on Thursday arraigned a 39-year-old man, Wasiu Lasisi, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly causing bodily harm to one Rahmon Adeyemo.
The defendant, whose residential address was not provided, was being tried for wounding and causing grievous bodily harm to the victim and complainant.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Foluke Adedosu, told the court that the defendant allegedly attacked and attempted to kill the complainant, with a machete on February 28 at 12.40 p.m, at Bolode Oku compound, Badeku, Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant caused grievous bodily harm to the victim.
He told the court that the offences contravaned Sections 338(1) and 355 of the criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr I. O. Osho, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He ruled that such sureties must have at least N500,000 in their bank accounts as part of the bail conditions and adjourned the case until May 26, for hearing.
