A 32-year-old man has allegedly confessed to raping no fewer than 40 women, including an 80-year-old woman, in Kano State.
The serial rapist, one Muhammad Zulfarau Alfa, was said to have confessed that is victims included girls, married women as well as an 80-year-old.
The Kano State Police Command said it will soon arraign the suspect, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer [PPROA], DSP Abdullahi Haruna on Wednesday.
“Police on Tuesday arrested 32-year-old Muhammad Zulfarau Alfa in Kwanar Dangora, an outskirt of Kano.
“During interrogation, the man confessed to have raped more than 40 women in a year, including girls, married women as well as an 80-year-old,” the statement read.
According to him, the suspect was apprehended after he went into a house in the night and attempted to rape a married woman.
Haruna said the young man who raped women and girls in the Dongora town, confessed committing the crime himself without the cohesion of anybody.
He said that the community was happy on Tuesday after receiving the news that the serial rapist had been arrested by the police.
He said as soon as the investigation was completed, the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution
