A 30-year old man has landed in trouble after he allegedly defiled his neighbour’s five-year-old girl in Lagos.

The incident happened at Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, Alakuko area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect, Ezekiel Adebowole, returned from work in the evening, lured the little girl into his apartment, forcefully penetrated and injured her private part, P.M Express reports.

However, the girl could not bear the pain as she continued crying. Her cry attracted the attention of their neighbours and her parents.

The matter was then reported to the Police; the suspect was arrested and detained at the Station for interrogation where he reportedly admitted committing the dastardly act.

He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which may likely attract life imprisonment.

The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr J.A. Adegun, ordered his remand without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

The matter was adjourned till 26th September 2020, for a report of the DPP’s advice to be ready while he will remain in custody.

The matter may likely be transferred to the High Court for trial if the DPP’s report finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
